Privacy policy
TAIT Lawyers respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect through this website, why we collect it and how we handle it. We are bound by the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and by our professional obligations of confidentiality.
What we collect
When you submit an enquiry, request a callback or send us a message, we collect the details you give us, such as your name, email address, phone number, the area of law involved, the description of your matter, your contact preferences and, if you tell us, how you heard about the firm. We also record the page you submitted the form from.
Why we collect it
We use this information to respond to your enquiry, work out whether we can act for you, check for conflicts of interest and, if you become a client, to carry out your matter. We may also use it to follow up an enquiry you have not responded to.
Who we share it with
Enquiry details are stored in our secure website database and may be passed to the customer relationship system we use to manage enquiries and client communications. We do not sell your information and we do not share it with third parties for marketing. Information may be disclosed where we are required to do so by law, or with your consent in the course of acting for you.
Sensitive information
Please do not include highly sensitive details in a web form. Sending an enquiry does not create a lawyer-client relationship, and material sent before we are formally engaged may not attract the same protections as advice given once we act for you.
Access, correction and complaints
You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete an enquiry. Contact us at info@taitlawyers.com.au or on (03) 9417 1622. If you are not satisfied with our response you may complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
This policy is a general statement prepared for the website. Please confirm the details with the firm before publishing, particularly the customer relationship system named, any document retention periods and the responsible contact person.
